Do We Deserve This Last Chance Ron Paul is Giving US?

As we look forward to the election year ahead, there is a recurring thought that keeps coming to the forefront of my thinking. Tonight that thought was echoed at a Ron Paul Alpharetta Meetup session that I attended. The thought is this: Ron Paul is our best hope and our last hope for saving this country. After this there is no one.

That is not an easy thing to say to your self, or out loud in front of others. Ask yourself this: If Ron Paul does not when the republican nomination and become President, then who will ever have the credentials to do so in the future? Of 435 congressmen, Paul is the only one with the record to say that he has supported the constitution above all us. We can review those that are in Congress today. No one even comes close.

Think about that. Out of 435 congressmen, only one district in one state has been willing to elect someone sworn to uphold the constitution that has actually done so. I think we owe Dr. Paul an apology and a thank you. I apologize for not sending to Washington someone of equal character and understanding of what the Constitution represents. I thank you for not compromising, for holding true to your principles, and for being willing to stand for what is right.

We have watched this country get far off the beaten path. We have tried to be everything to everyone. We have spent ourselves into a debt that boggles the mind. As of this moment, each of us owes $30,204. That is the amount we each owe above and beyond what we have paid in taxes our while life. Do we deserve the chance to get the spending under control and begin reducing our debt?

I am not sure we deserve the opportunity Ron Paul is giving us. I only know that we cannot afford to blow it. If we fail this last time, there will be no one else to turn to. We will be left with republicans who want to save the world and democrats who want it all to be free. We will be left with politicians who want to wait til next year to address the debt, and next year never gets here. We will be left with politicians who know we do not care about saving our nation as it was meant to be, and who will go on reshaping it into what they desire it to be, based on who is in the majority at the time.

Ron Paul is our last chance, people. I am not sure we deserve it. But if we blow this chance, then we will be left with what we deserve. We will be left with nothing.

I Want my Rights Back, and I Want Them Now

Each time I watch a republican or democratic debate I find myself becoming angrier and angrier. I am a 45 year old male who has had his rights whittled away over time to the point that most of my peers no longer even recognize that they once had those rights. Face it, we are running out of time to get our rights back before there is no one left that even recognizes what rights are gone.

World War I veterans are all but gone, and the World War II veterans are going fast. Ask yourself how many would make the sacrifices they made to see what they fought to protect systematically stripped from their grandchildren? And the soldiers today? They went to Iraq to remove a threat to us, not to build buildings and train police officers. They put a great face on it, and I am proud of them, but it is time to bring them home and let the Iraqi people do for themselves. I ask you this-under what situation would you ever accept a foreign country on our soil training our police and building our schools?

I want my rights back as a sovereign nation. I do not want the leaders of my country having to answer to the UN, NATO, or any other quasi-world government.

I want my rights back as a citizen to spend my money and support candidates as I choose without worrying about whether or not a six member Federal Election Committee (which is made of three democrats and three republicans) deciding how they can best shut me up. Who at that table represents me, the Libertarian Independent Voter?

I want my rights back as a citizen of the state of Georgia. I want the right to educate my children based on state and local objectives, not those of career government workers that I cannot fire and cannot vote out of office.

I want my state to have the right to build and approve roads and other projects as they see fit, and not be subject to the whims of the EPA. How many people have to sit in traffic for how many hours and burn how many gallons of gas before they decide it is ok to add another lane through industrial and developed areas? I trust the state, who I have a more reasonable chance of electing(compared to a senator from Massachusetts) on what is best for us who ACTUALLY live here.

I want my rights to decide what is best for my health back. Quit forcing me into a health system where you have limited the supply of practitioners via taxes and lawsuits, and expanded the demand by attempting to insure everyone. Who are you fooling? We both know you do not want me to live as long as possible because of the next right I want back.

I want my retirement future back. You started taking my money from the very first hour I worked. And you have spent every damn penny and left a jar full of IOUS. Then you have made sure that by the time I get to retirement that I really do not expect much. All of this because some people were too careless to plan for their own retirement? Yet you hope I die before the first penny is ever paid out. How “right” is that?

There is not a right above that you have taken that you have the authority to take. The Constitution of the United States makes that perfectly clear. I am, like many Americans, tired of asking politely. We are not going to wait forever. The anger is growing, and if I have to spend every damn nickel I have that you have not laid claim to, well, I am getting close to that point to doing so. And I am not alone. There is a revolution beginning to form. Ignore it if you will. But I will get my rights back. And I will not let anymore escape me without a fight.

In less than three days, I will donate to the one man that vows to make it different. I will give til it hurts. Because it hurts more to know what rights I have given up by not fighting back. My forefathers did not die for socialized medicine, or to answer to a higher power-the United Nations. They died to protect the freedoms I have lost, and I am shocked that I have loss them without even a shot being fired.

When Worlds Collide with a Camera Present

The video above is from a San Fransisco Republican Straw Poll Dinner. You got to pay $33 and have dinner and cast a vote, or $5 and cast a vote after dinner. Only once the number of Ron Paul supporters became evident, they canceled it.

Is this what republicans will do when things are not going their way? Are you hearing anything at all about the straw poll results where Ron Paul is crushing everyone? Of course not. It does not fit into the game plan of one of the three princes that the republican leadership has preselected for us. They only let the other guys share the stage so they can have the pretense of a real election. Prince Rudy, Mike and Mitt are the ones that the established leaders have control over. Those three are having to use professional fund raisers to raise their campaign funds. Meanwhile, Paul is raising money faster than anyone and paying no one. Yet we are not hearing much about that at all. At what point does Paul get to have his message told. It's rather obvious that those that are hearing it are responding with their greenbacks. They are responding by showing up at events.

The Old Republican Guard, which has failed miserably, can feel the storm building. But they believe it will pass. They are wrong. They have underestimated the anger and frustration of their constituents. They could only go for so long giving us more of the same, and telling us that it was better than the democratic choice. But George Bush has out grown and out spent his predecessor in the White House, and frankly we are sick of it.

If they are not careful, the ORG will run Paul out of the Republican Party, and then there will be hell to pay. That is just the sort of thing to light the Libertarian Fire they have always feared. I have to say I am hoping that it happens.

The cameras will be rolling, and there are too many to mute the truth any longer.

It’s the Constitution, Stupid!

As we move further along in this election cycle, there is one topic that is getting pushed aside, while an old topic is being forced to the center of attention. In the past, we were told that the economy is what voters cast their vote on, and perhaps that was right. But today as we see the supposed white knight of the Republican party rising, it is not about his economic ideas. It is not about his willingness to support the constitution. Instead it is his religious background that has given Mike Huckabee his momentary boost. I contend that boost is going to be short-lived as we see a preacher not want to be seen in his preacher clothes in front of the American people. He will not be able to have it both ways.

The economy is and always be a major issue to voters. Unfortunately, most Americans are too ignorant on economic issues to realize the false things politicians have told them to draw valid conclusions on economic issues and tax consequences. If you believe this to be untrue, ask yourself who profits the most from the sale of one gallon of gas: government or private business. Now see my column on that,

The Ron Paul Revolution will not be directly about religion, the economy or the war. Instead, it is about following the basic blueprint for this country. That would be the Constitution of the United States. Most Americans, I promise you, are ignorant on this document and what it was meant to do. I suggest they get a book called “The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution” by Kevin Gutzman. The intent of the founders of this nation will become clearer to you, as well as the documentary evidence to support it.

For instance, the reason Libertarians are so fed up with the federal government is that they have taken from the states their sovereign rights. It was not meant to be this way. The word “state” has a different meaning today than how it was meant when our country was founded. In fact, words were carefully chosen so that it was clear that each state was equal and sovereign. States had the status of an independent country, such as Spain or France. This is why King George mentions each state by name when declaring that they were sovereign and free of British rule. Were they not to be considered this way, he would have only mentioned the United States in his treaty.

Libertarians do not want a federal government telling the states how to conduct their own business. It’s that simple.

The religions issues will rise and fall. The economic cycle will rise and fall. But the sovereign rights of the states, and their citizens, does not rise and fall. They have fallen ever so slowly over the last two hundred and thirty years. It’s why your local school systems are more responsive to the federal government than to the local citizens. It’s why you have bike lanes that go no where (federal credits) and HOV lanes that no one wants (to make the feds happy). It’s why every state was forced to raise the drinking age, pass seatbelt laws, and so on. The list is endless.

You and I each have 434 congressmen and 98 senators passing laws for you that you did not vote for, and have no way of removing from office. California has four times the representation of Georgia. How are my rights safeguarded under a system where the federal government can unconstitutionally take away state rights and my representatives are so outnumbered?

In the end it will be constitutional issues that overthrow the balance of power that we see in this group of “United” states. Perhaps the revolution must occur first at a state level. In the beginning, any one state could block the actions of the federal government. Rhode Island was on par with New York, Massachusetts and the other ten states. Does any one today believe that Rhode Island is on par with California in determining the direction of this country? Not I.

Georgia Does Not Belong in the SEC

If you choose to participate in a conference that has a championship game, then you must abide by the results.

To cry and complain that they are better than everyone else without winning the championship only makes them look like sore losers.

Richt and company knew what needed to be done at the start of the season if they wanted a National Championship: Win the SEC. Ask Richt if he thinks Georgia would have the right to play for a National Championship had they lost the SEC Championship game. No? Well his team did not even deserve the right to win or lose that game.

If you are going to be in a conference, you better be willing to support the results of that conference.
